Which Shape Is Right for You?

Match the glass to your base and your room. Round tops suit pedestal bases and tight spaces; rectangles suit desks and long dining frames; ovals seat more people without sharp corners.

Sizing & Thickness

Get these two right and the rest is simple. Every size below is held in stock.

How do I measure for a glass top?

Measure the widest points of your table or base in inches. For a protector, match the tabletop exactly. For a top that sits on a base, choose how much overhang you want, then pick the nearest stocked size.

  1. Measure length and width (or diameter) across the top surface.
  2. Protector or inset in a frame? Round down to the nearest stocked size.
  3. Top on a base? Decide how much overhang you want on each side, then pick the nearest stocked size.
  4. Check the weight so you can plan who will lift it.

Which Edge Finish Should I Choose?

Every top is finished before it ships. These four profiles are the ones stocked across the range.

Flat polish edge profile

Flat Polish

Square, glossy edge. Clean and modern — the most popular choice.

Pencil polish edge profile

Pencil Polish

Rounded profile that feels soft to the touch. Good for busy homes.

One inch bevel edge profile

1" Bevel

Angled border that catches light. Suits formal dining tables.

Ogee edge profile

Ogee

S-curve profile on thick glass. A traditional, furniture-grade look.

Edge availability varies by shape, thickness and tint — grey and bronze tops are flat polish only, low iron is 1" bevel only.

Good to know

Glass Table Top FAQs

Are all your glass table tops tempered?

Yes. Every table top is tempered at no extra cost, which makes it several times stronger than untreated glass and safer if it ever breaks.

What thickness do I need for a dining table?

Use 1/2" for a top that sits on a pedestal or frame, and 3/4" for large or long-span tables. 1/4" works as a protector over a solid table.

Can I order a size you don't list?

If you don't find the size you need, email info@glasstopsdirect.com or call 1-800-850-6467 with your dimensions and we'll quote it. See our request a quote page.

How do I keep a glass top from sliding?

Place the clear bumpons included with your order between the glass and the table. They grip, cushion and let air circulate over wood.

What is the difference between clear and low iron glass?

Clear glass has a slight green tint visible on the edge. Low iron glass removes most of that tint for a whiter, crisper look.

Do you offer tops with an umbrella hole?

Yes. Our patio glass tops come in 24" to 60" rounds with a 2" center umbrella hole.

Do you sell to businesses in bulk?

Yes. Hotels, restaurants and showrooms order identical tops from stock. See bulk discounts.

How do I clean a glass table top?

Use a microfiber cloth with a non-abrasive glass cleaner such as our Hi-Sheen cleaner. Avoid scouring pads.
